Common Questions

What type of styling product is best for my hair type?

The ideal gel depends on your hair's thickness, porosity, and curl pattern. Fine hair benefits from light-hold, water-based gels that will not weigh strands down. Thick or coarse hair usually needs a medium- to strong-hold formula to maintain shape throughout the day. Curly and coily textures perform well with gels that contain moisturizing agents like glycerin or aloe vera to define curls without crunchiness. Our free assessment matches your profile to the right product category.

Are your recommended products safe for daily use?

Yes. Every product in our catalog is evaluated for long-term scalp safety. We exclude formulas that list drying alcohols (SD alcohol, denatured alcohol) as a primary ingredient and prioritize water-based, paraben-free options. That said, we always recommend washing your hair at the end of each day to prevent product buildup, regardless of which gel you use.

How is the consultation delivered and how long does it take?

Our Starter consultation is asynchronous — you fill out a form, and a specialist sends your personalized plan via email within 24 hours. The Pro tier adds a live 30-minute video call where your specialist demonstrates techniques and answers questions in real time. Both formats include a printable routine card and follow-up support.

Can I cancel or pause my subscription box?

Absolutely. There are no long-term contracts. You can pause for one quarter or cancel entirely from your account dashboard, or by sending us a quick email. If you cancel mid-cycle, you will still receive the current quarter's box, and billing stops for the next one.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Currently, our subscription boxes and product bundles ship within the contiguous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. International shipping is on our roadmap for late 2026. Consultation services (Starter and Pro) are available globally since they are delivered digitally.

What ingredients should I avoid in styling products?

Watch out for SD alcohol or denatured alcohol high on the ingredient list — these dry out hair and scalp over time. Parabens (methylparaben, propylparaben) are preservatives some people prefer to avoid due to sensitivity concerns. Synthetic fragrances can also irritate sensitive scalps. Our consultants review ingredient labels for you and flag anything that conflicts with your sensitivities or preferences.

How do I apply gel for the best results?

Start with towel-dried, damp hair — this is when product distributes most evenly. Use a dime-sized amount, rub it between your palms to warm the formula, then work it through from roots to tips. For volume, apply at the roots and blow-dry upward. For a slick look, apply mid-shaft to ends and smooth with a fine-tooth comb. Avoid applying to completely dry hair, as this can lead to flaking.
